An Update

A few weeks ago I blogged about our attempt to put Oliver in a big boy bed. I say attempt because, at this point, he still isn't actually sleeping in his bead. So about a week ago we decided to scrap the crib converted toddler bed and just get a twin mattress. It seemed silly to work so hard to get him to sleep in the crib converted bed only to have to put him in toddler bed later and do it all again. We thought maybe now he won't think the bed is broken, maybe now he will sleep in it. Nope. No matter what we say, how hard we try to persuade him, or what we do, he refuses to sleep in his bed. He will jump on it, play on it, read on it. But as soon as we say goodnight and leave the room to the carpet he goes. Michael asked him one day, "Why do you like to sleep on the carpet?" He said, "The carpet is nice." He said, "How long did you sleep on the carpet?" He said, "10 minutes." What are we going to do with him? We are just hoping that one day he figures out that the bed really is much more comfortable than the carpet on the floor. We just hope the day comes sooner rather than later. Here are some pictures of his new bed. And a few of how we have found him after he has fallen asleep.

The new bed.
I asked him to show me where he sleeps and this is what he did.
He always sleeps right behinds the door.

Hi Christy, It's funny but we are having the same problem with 6 year old Jia. We bought her a little play tent for Christmas, now she insists on sleeping in the tent on the floor of our bedroom when she has a perfect little girls room. When I asked her how long she was going to sleep in the tent she replied "forever"

Anna and Katie didn't have too many problems with the toddler beds, although when they got up and out of them they became weapons of mass destruction. A particularly bad incident involved all of their clothes, baby powder and vaseline.

Good luck with Oliver, my guess is he will hop in when he feels ready!

Love, Lesa
