Oliver Update

I thought it was time to write an update on both Oliver and Wesley. Here it goes with our big man.

* Is starting to learn how to go potty in the potty or outside on the grass. Is motivated by jelly beans. Will pee for a jelly bean.

* Still sleeps on the floor on blankets behind the door

* Will sing and dance to Billie Jean anytime and anywhere

* Says the most hilarious and amazing stuff, some recent examples:
"I like commercials. Oliver likes commercials." (he prefers to address himself in the third person)
Riding in the car he points outside to a neighborhood and says, "That's a neighborhood."
Watching extra the other night he heard the name Jaqueline Smith and said, "I like Jaqueline's hair (his friend from church). I like Sophia's hair too."
* Likes to watch "Dancing with the Stars" and "Mikey Mouse Club House" of course

* Has mastered the summersault and is now trying to master the cartwheel (thanks to Uncle Stephen who
who taught him how) here is a video.

Wesley Update

Here it goes with our little man.

* He can say, "Mama, Dada, ball, and uh-oh." He might say other things but those we know he says for sure.

* He can crawl everywhere and very fast. He is pulling up and if you give him your fingers he will make you
walk him all over the house.
* He is about to get two more teeth on the bottom. He will then have 4 on the bottom and none on the top:)

* When he gets frustrated or wants something he makes this face below and says, "ohh ohh." In a sad little "help me" voice.

* He LOVES balls. Especially basketballs. He will bat them all around and then crawl after them. And if he is walking (with help) he tries to kick them.

* He still eats everything you put in front of him and usually is interested in whatever the adults and his big brother are eating.

* He gets cuter everyday if that is even possible. And is developing his own little personality.

Him with all of his basketballs:)

Man in the Mirror

Here is a little more on Oliver's obsession with MJ. This past week in the car while driving to dinner one night Oliver told us that he wanted a mirror. "Why?" we asked, "because (his new favorite word) I want to see myself. Because I want to dance like Michael Jackson." He continued, "I need a mirror. Need to buy one from the store. I want to see myself." Michael and I just about died in the front seat. What a nut. Here is another video of his moves.

Welcome Micah James Doe!

I am so excited to announce that JAred, MArcie, and Sophia welcomed a son and baby brother into the world yesterday. Micah James weighed 7 lbs. 8 oz. and was 20.5 inches long. We slipped out to the hospital last night to pay a quick visit to the latest Doe edition after getting Wesley to bed and left Oliver and Papa Fay to get into trouble together:) I don't have a great picture but I am sure we will get some more when we bring dinner to them next week. Congratulations Does. We are so excited for you!

Starting a Nudist Colony

Oliver has decided this past week that he does not need clothes. Every time I turn around he has taken his diaper pants and diaper off and is asking me to take his shirt off (he has a harder time taking this off by himself). So we are trying to take advantage of his new found love for nudity by getting him to pee and poop either on the potty or where seems to be his favorite place to go- outside on the grass. So far it seems to be working. He has twice now actually realized ahead of time that he needs to pee and gone outside to do it. And has gone number 2 outside three times now which he thinks is hilarious. He marches right in the house with a look of shear excitement and pride on his face and announces, "Mommy, I went poo poo." Well I guess it's a start and hopefully he will eventually transition from the grass to the potty.
The other day Laura and Nola came over with Christine and baby Bella. In usual form Oliver asked to take his clothes off. "I want to play naked" he says. And Nola was just fine with taking her clothes off too. They had a blast playing outside and in the baby pool together and we allowed as if they just might start a nudist colony together.

ON THE MOVE!

We are so excited to announce that Wesley is on the move! About two weeks ago he started by taking just a few little tiny movements forward with his hands and then legs and then gingerly moving to the sitting position and now just a few short weeks later he is all over the house. He chases basketballs (his favorite toy at the moment) and is learning how to roll the ball to someone else and then get it rolled back to him. He is starting to try and figure out how to pull up and loves it when I walk him around. HE can see the light at the end of the tunnel (walking) and it won't be too long before we will have two walkers. Yikes!

Oliver's New Love: MJ

In February we put a Michael Jackson CD in the van simply because Michael and I like Michael Jackson. And so as we drove around town Oliver was introduced, without any real planning on our part, to MJ. At first he just asked to hear certain songs again. Then when we got in the van to go somewhere he would ask to listen to Michael Jackson. Then he took a certain liking to Billie Jean which he, at first called, "Jeanie." And it was all downhill from there. What was a certain liking has turned into a full fledged obsession. The kid lives for MJ. We listen to him in the van, we watch videos of him on You Tube, and we even rent and now purchase the Michael Jackson greatest hit DVD. And he spends most of his days trying to perfect his adorable rendition of Billie Jean along with spins and the moonwalk. And he knows ALL the songs by name. Billie Jean, Beat it, Smooth Criminal, Man in the Mirror, Black or White. He can tell you by listening to the first few bars of the song which one it is. In fact, today in the car he asked to listen to Billie Jean. I accidently tuned it to Man in the Mirror and he promptly, and I mean promptly, informed me, "This is Man in the Mirror." Like Duh Mom do you not know which number on the CD Billie Jean is? We have created a monster. But I will say it is HIGHLY entertaining.

Here he is doing the dance in his big boy underwear. (no he is not potty trained. he just really wanted to wear them)

Here he is showing of his moves for a crowd on Easter. Hilarious!

The Zoo

Michael was out of town last weekend Mimi, Papa G. and mommy decided to take Oliver and Wesley to the Zoo. This was Wesley's first trip and Oliver's second. He had a good time although it was not free from a fair share of meltdowns. The highlights were definetely the chimpanzees and monkeys but that didn't surprise us too much. And petting the billie goats. Although I am pretty sure that Oliver was more excited because when I asked him if he wanted to pet the billie goats he sayd, "Billie Jean?" I said, "No, billie goats." More on his latest obsession of Michael Jackson in the next post.

My Latest Creation

Just thought I would post a few pictures of the latest lampshade that I created. This one is for the Doe's playroom.
