You know you have a two year old when...

You know you have a two year old when....

* he throws a screaming, rolling around on the floor, life is awful tantrum but will stop on a dime when
offered something he really wants like a donut or jelly bean
* asks if he can see his poop (in his diaper) while you are changing him
* runs everywhere all the time
* thinks if he just keeps asking for something over and over and over again eventually mommy will get tired
of the sound of her own name and the request that accompanies it the he WILL get what he wants
* Names his monkeys and "boys" as he calls them (little plastic people) names such as: Dinko and Bobo
* And MUST have a say in everything. Especially now what he wears.

This is what he asked to wear the other day. His "Suns Shirt" and his "beanie." It was 76 degrees outside.
In other news. Wesley has been suffering through a cough and cold the last few weeks and once we got over that hurdle and he had been feeling better for a few days we had to take a trip to the Urgent Care this past Saturday because he was extra lethargic, and super fussy (two very abnormal qualities for him). We found out he has an ear infection. Probably thanks in part to those silly little teeth that are still trying to push through. But he has rebounded and is happy and smiling again:) Sweet boy! And is getting closer to crawling. I get excited when I see him start to rock on all fours and then I think, should I be excited about this? Hmm...not sure how life will be with two on the move? We shall see I guess.

Here are the two of them in the red wagon.

Update

I have to take some time before I begin this update post to share a few little stories about a some things Oliver said that made us laugh hysterically and also smile this last week.
A few nights ago we were giving the kids their bath. Wesley was worn out so I took him out to change him and Michael stayed in the bathroom with Oliver. He was examining his "man" parts when he pointed down and said, "penis." Michael said, "Yes, that's right." And then asked, "What about those?" and Oliver responded without hesitation, "Meatballs." When I heard Michael break out in uncontrollable laughter I came closer to listen to what was going on and once again Michael asked, "What are those?" And Oliver said, "meatballs." By far the funniest thing he has said or done since the breast feeding monkey incident in the summer. Hilarious.
Last night we were driving out to church for a Valentine's event and when we pulled into the parking lot we had a great view of the sunset. Oliver said, "look mommy." I said, "Yes, that's very pretty isn't it?" He said, "No mommy, that's beautiful." Umm...he really is a genius. I mean, really, the kids just turned two at the beginning of December.
Okay on to my update post....

Oliver Moses Fay - 2 years 2 months

* Loves drums
* Loves jumping off everything and anything and especially on the trampoline.
* Loves reading the Bible, he says every night before bed, "I want to read the Bible one."
and asks to read specific stories, "I want the apple one." (Adam and Eve) "I want the lots of people one" (when Jesus calls His dicsiples).
* Is bossy like any other two year old. "I want juice." "I want a nack (snack)" "I want to read a book"
* Does remember to say "please," "thank you," and "your welcome" some of the time
* Obsessed with Mary Poppins especially the Chim Chim Cheroo song. He gets on his chair and
pretends he is dancing on top of the chimnies and roof tops.
* Loves his girlfriend Sophia
* Says, "I want to eat a donut" almost every day
* Still refuses to sleep in his bed
* Loves going to "the jumping place" (Pump It Up)

when Wesley is upset. And pats his little head.

* Knows his colors

Wesley Jack Fay - 8 months

* Is the best baby EVER!
* Sits up on his own

Winter Birthday Dinner

Our cousin Emily came up with a great idea a while back to have cluster birthday celebrations. Its just to hard to get us all together every time someone has a birthday but if we do four or five birthday celebrations a year (fall, winter, spring, summer) it seems to work out great. So we got together the other night to celebrate the winter birthdays (Amy, Andrew, Marsha and Evelyn) and the kids got a chance to play together. They had a ball and I even got a picture of Oliver smiling like a normal person and not doing his "fake" smile that he has perfected so well lately.
Mmm he got his own ice cream cone
This is a great on of her. She can eat as many cookies as she wants she is training for an Ironman!
The birthday group!
So cute!

Superbowl!

We went over to our friends Karie and Steve's for the superbowl the other day. They have two girls, (Emma -4, Avery- 8 months) and their second Avery was born 5 days before Wesley. I have to say the highlight for me wasn't really the Superbowl or even the commercials, there really weren't that many funny ones from what I saw, but was watching Wesley and Avery interact. They were definetely flirting. No question in my mind. In fact, at one point she flipped her hair (or what little hair she has at this point in her little life) and Wesley smiled back at her. Clearly he is going to follow in the footsteps of his brother and be a ladies man. Oliver had a blast playing with his girlfriend "Phia" and Emma and we got a chance to see little Maya. The girls were all over checking out the baby and Oliver took one a look and then continued to do summersaults. Like any boy he wasn't exactly sure what the hype was about!

What a looker. Could any girl resist that face?
Leaning in.
Well hello.

Welcome Bella Grace Owens!

I am so excited to announce the little Miss Bella made her appearance yesterday just after 2:00pm. She was a tiny 5.5 lbs. and 18 inches. And I am excited to announce as well that aside from Christine, Rowdy, and the doctors and nurses I was the first to see her sweet little face. Not really on purpose actually but it just so happened that as I was walking to the room Rowdy was walking back from surgery with a huge grin on his face and Bella in his arms!
I cannot tell you just how much Michael and I love Christine and Rowdy and how dear a friends they have been to us over the years. In fact we knew both of them in high school. Rowdy graduated with Michael and I and Christine with Steph. It is just so fun that we have known each other for so long and have been able to share in each others lives as we enter into new and exciting phases in our lives together. We watched each other get married, and they were there for both births of our boys (in fact both times Christine was the first friend to arrive on the scene. Which makes me extra proud that I was the first friend to see Bella:) and now we have gotten the blessing of watching them become parents! And I have to say nothing beats seeing the faces of both mom and dad as they look at their daughter or son for the first time, which held true yesterday . And there is nothing, to me, that points more clearly to the fact that God continues to do miracles today then the through the incredible gift of new life. I truly felt honored to be there yesterday to be a part of it!

I

The Three Musketeers

Yesterday was filled with a whole lot of excitement and fun. In the morning Brie and Tyler and Marcie and Sophia came over to play! Well the moms didn't really play as much as chatted and attempted to keep any meltdowns to a minimum. It really was so much fun to watch the three of them interact and play together. And as they played we reflected on how fast the time has gone. We were all pregnant together and it is hard to believe that they are already 2. It is such a blessing to have these two women in my life and it's just such a blast to watch our kids play together.
And in the afternoon....a very special little girl made her appearance. But more on that in the next post!

Sophia said cheese for the camera. And Oliver did his own thing. Maybe she can teach him how to pose. He needs some help:)
Eating together:)
Tyler was not into the ladder. Here he is ready to make his "death leap" as Brie called it.
Jumping together.

Mary Poppins and a First Tooth!

Oliver's new obsession is Mary Poppins. He LOVES watching the movie. In fact I am pretty sure if we let him he would watch in on repeat over and over again all day. He seems to somehow have figured out to say Mary Poppins with a bit of a English accent. So on Monday we (Papa, Nana, and myself) went to the mall to eat lunch and ride on the merry-go-round. Unfortunately the horses didn't come off the merry-go-round and none of us won a horse race but he had a lot of fun nonetheless. And so did Wesley, well about as much fun as he could have considering he has been battling a cold and teething for the last week. However I am happy, and I really meant it, SO HAPPY, to announce that his first tooth has cut. Thank the Lord. He has been teething FOREVER and finally we are seeing the fruit of his labor!
Today I took the kids to the Barnes and Noble at Desert Ridge and then we walked around exploring all the fountains and throwing coins in. And, of course, somehow Oliver spotted a Mary Poppins poster (the musical is coming to Gammage in the next week) and said, "Mommy, look. Mary Poppins!" On the way home he told me at least twice that he say a picture of Mary Poppins. Well I have to admit I am glad that he we are taking a break from the Wiggles even if it means I have to watch Mary Poppins twice a day:)
