GO SUNS!

I had the opportunity to go to my very first playoff game this past Sunday night. The Lakers led the series 2-0 going into Sunday's game and I was pretty excited to go to the game (usually the Fay's have two tickets but Bill purchased one extra seat for the previous two series and two extra seats for this series vs. the Lakers.) But I have to tell you I had SO MUCH FUN cheering on the Suns. And Lucky for me and Marsha the Suns won game 3 and so we both got invited back to game 4. I think Michael and Bill might have thought we were the lucky charms. And I suppose we could have been because the Suns won game 4 too. Unfortunately they lost last night. So heartbreaking. But that just means Marsha and I will be going to game 6 in our same jersey's to cheer them on. Go SUNS BEAT LA!!!!!
Here we are!
We sat next to this guy dressed in all orange during game 4. Michael was hoping to get on TV but I am not sure if he did. However this guys was, as you might have guessed, a very enthusiastic fan, and he was very entertaining. At one point he yelled out (at Lamar Odom), "You married the ugly Kardashian!" So mean. But I am a little embarassed to admit that I did laugh. Out loud. Woops.

Live in the Moment

I thought I would take a minute today to update the blog and as I do this I am just 8 days away from running my second half marathon in San Diego. As most of you know I ran the Rock n' Roll half in Phoenix in January and I guess you could say I got bitten by the "running bug." I never thought I would actually enjoy running long distances but there is something about the quiet of the morning and the sound of my feet as they hit the pavement that gets me going. And then there's the fact that for those minutes or hours (depending on how long my run is) I don't have any children calling my name and pulling at me to come and do whatever they want me to be doing at that particular moment.
So when I heard they had a half in San Diego I though, why not continue my training and run? And then I met a woman, Michelle, through Michael's cousin Amy (I guess I could call her my cousin in law). She ran the half in Phoenix also and I carpooled down with her, Amy, and my other "cousin-in-law" Emily the morning of the race. And I heard a little bit of her story. Her husband (Mitch) died on October the 9th 2009, tragically, in a freak airplane accident (he was the pilot) leaving Michelle a widow and their two children (1 and 3 years old) without a father. He was 36 years old. Can you even imagine? Having two kids close to those ages I cannot begin to fathom how difficult it would be to go on being a mother to our children without my husband.
Michelle decided that she would turn to exercise for her grief therapy and also decided that she would run the marathon in honor of Mitch (they had this on a bucket list that the two of them had created together before he passed). Michelle, along with many of her supporters, have created Team Mitch whose motto (Mitch's life motto) is "Live in the Moment" Team Mitch is raising $10,000 to establish the Mitchel Steinke Scholorship which will send an underprivledged kid to Air Adventure Camp where they will learn about flying.
So I am very proud to say that I will be running with Team Mitch in honor of Mitch and in support of his incredibly strong wife Michelle. Although I didn't know Mitch at all and I barely know Michelle I hope that I can "live in the moment" everyday. Because you really never know what tomorrow holds. If you are interested in donating to this cause send me an email and I will get you where you need to go:) christyfay14@gmail.com

A Little About Mom and Dad

It's been a busy month in our household. Then again, I am not sure when it is not busy. And perhaps that is why we have all been sick to some degree this last week. I guess life does eventually catch up with you. Anyways I wanted to share a few things that Michael and I have been up to. Let me take a minute to brag on my husband. He is such an incredible teacher and I know most days he doesn't feel it but he has a gift with kids and he has such an impact on their lives. In fact he just got a note from one of his seniors saying that they have learned more this year about what it means to be a Christian in his Bible class. AND he also happens to be an incredible talented videographer. If anyone reads this blog and hasn't already done so please go to his and Steve's website and check out the promo video for a wedding they just shot in San Diego a few weekends ago. This is really only their second official wedding as Lomaland productions and I think it's pretty amazing.

I too have been super busy. I made a lampshade to hang over our table and am in the middle of working on one to sell. So if anyone is interested in buying one I will have more info soon once I am done with it. Here are a few pics of the one I just finished a few weeks ago.

And this past Sunday I had the privilege of teaching at our church for Mother's Day. I taught on John 4, "The Woman at the Well." I love this passage so much and I had such an incredible time preparing and then teaching on it. The teaching can be found on our church's website if anyone is interested in listening to it.

Wesley's Obsession

As I posted earlier Wesley, who is ALMOST walking. In fact he took 4 or 5 steps today without holding onto anyone's finger so we are getting closer and closer to having two walkers everyday. Anyways Wesley is obsessed with playing with balls. This little video shows one of his favorite activities taking basketballs out and then putting them back in the wagon.

And I thought this next video was appropriate considering the Suns are heading into the conference championships versus the Lakers starting this next week. Go SUNS!

A Visit From Up North

My Nona and two cousins Jake and Shane came for a visit for about a week to get away from the nasty cold and snowy, yes that's right, snowy MAY weather in Canada. They spent at least 5 hours of everyday in the pool and the others shopping and jumping on the trampoline and Oliver was in heaven. Although they are technically his second cousins that's just too complicated to explain so in his minds they are his ever so cool and fun to play with big boy cousins. I didn't take as many pictures as I should have but here are a few.

He also took this opportunity to show Shane and Jake his favorite dance and song sequence from "Mary Poppins."

A PERFECT Rendition of the ABC Song

Tonight, somewhat out of nowhere, Oliver sang the ABC Song from beginning to end to near perfection. Maybe I am just a proud mom but seriously is this normal or is he really smart? Here is the video.

Had to write it...

I have to blog about a few things that Oliver said that I forgot to write down. I know some of you might not care about every hilarious and cute thing he says but this is more for us as a family than anyone else. Especially since it's my goal to print the blog at the end of every year.

The other day during nap I heard (from behind the closed door) "Oh my gosh. Milk spilled everywhere." Said with more attitude than you would believe. I, of course, have no idea where he gets it from:)

I should preface this next comment by saying that Oliver talks a lot about the song "Thriller." He knows that the video is too scary for him to watch. And on the DVD Nana bought for him there is a picture of Michael Jackson from the video Thriller which we attempted to scratch out with permanent marker but somehow he can still see that Michael Jackson has "paint" on his face, as he calls it, and that it is scary. Tonight as we were driving home from dinner at Nana and Papa's Oliver said, "If I saw Michael Jackson paint I would say, 'Hey, what are you doing in my house?"
